Before starting anything, you should ask yourself why you are doing it. In my case, it all has to do with passion and the need to share it with the world.
So why did I start a cooking blog?
To explain that I will have to take you back to my childhood.
I was a spoiled child who had everything done for him; a cook, a nanny, a chauffeur, etc literally all the servants you could imagine. I was in a mono-parental family, my parents were separated so each had their own way to educate me; spoiled by daddy then brought back to reality by mama who would be strict and teach me to be independent. My mother would make me do the house chores; how to perfectly clean a house, wash your own clothes, do grocery shopping, cooking, etc She used to tell me that it is not because I am the only child that she will just spoil me and make me a mama's boy, that I need to learn to do everything by myself because I will live on my own one day and I must be able to take care of myself. Even though at first I hated doing all those tasks, I ended up appreciating the apprenticeship.
I love food and thank God I have been blessed with a mother who could make me travel the world with her dishes; she can literally cook anything. She had quite her job as an accountant to start a catering company, when I go spend some days by her house I would wake up to smell of a diversity of dishes and would give her a hand. This is how I started to get interested in cooking. I would ask questions about everything, "Why do you add wine?" "what's the purpose of this red powder?" ; at some point certain dishes she would present were made by me.
I became so passionate that I would just cook for fun. I have eventually become better, I can now create my own recipes. My rule in the kitchen is "Follow your heart and forget about the books and rules" as I do not follow guidelines but my feelings.
A thing I have learnt in the process is that you can make amazing food from the most basic ingredients and this is what I want to share. As a student I know how tight finances can be for some of us; but that does not mean that you can not be able to make yourself a tasty dinner to reward your body after a long day on campus. Also, many of us still not know to make anything else than 2 minutes noodles or eggs.
So my blog is for you guys. Knowledge must be shared; I will show what I have learnt so far, my experiments, tips and techniques. I will leave recipes of every meal as well as the drinks I create, post videos of the full process.
I hope you will enjoy the journey.
